Definition
A local area network connects devices within a limited area, such as a home, office, or building.
Usage and related concepts
A LAN can use wired or wireless links; it is not synonymous with Wi-Fi. Being on the same network does not grant control over another device: reachable services and appropriate authorization are still required.
