Frame rate is the number of video or animation frames displayed or processed per second, commonly expressed as FPS.
Usage and related concepts
Frame rate, resolution, and display refresh rate describe different properties. In games, rendered, generated, and displayed frames may differ; a high displayed rate does not guarantee equally frequent game-state or input updates.
