Definition
DPI stands for dots per inch. For a mouse, it commonly describes sensitivity: a higher setting produces more pointer movement for the same physical travel.
Usage and distinctions
DPI settings adapt the mouse to precise selection, large displays or games. System pointer settings also affect the result. Mouse sensitivity, screen pixel density and print resolution serve different purposes; a larger number alone is not a quality score.
