What AI Passport is
AI Passport is an open wearable AI agent device from FoloToy, presented by its maker as “a passport to build the world together with an AI Agent.” The device uses a transparent shell that makes the screen, mainboard, NFC, microphone, speaker, and battery part of the product’s look. The official site is ai-passport.folotoy.cn.
Usage and play modes
Out of the box, the device’s default form is an identity card: a WeChat mini-program syncs your name, avatar, self-introduction, and a full-screen image over Bluetooth, and a built-in mini game is included. Users can also install community-shared firmware from the official “plays community,” covering games, tools, and AI interactions. Installation runs through a web flasher, and the official notes warn that installing community firmware overwrites everything currently on the device; restoring factory firmware requires a Chrome or Edge browser and a Type-C cable.
Development
AI Passport emphasizes open firmware: users can build their own “plays” and share them with the community. Official tutorials cover workflows that use AI coding agents — including Codex, Claude Code, and TRAE — so wearable firmware development can be handed directly to a coding agent.
Discussion in the show
In Weekly #005’s chapter “ModRetro、AI Passport 与 ESP32 改造” (ModRetro, AI Passport, and ESP32 hacking), Yang Pan notes that AI Passport, like other hardware in the discussion, can be developed and deployed directly with your own agent in the Chinese transcript, calling it a new pattern; Orange describes his experience with an AI Passport gifted by Wang Le: at the time he hit issues such as Chinese-language support and had to lean on GitHub community projects as references for the AI, and comparing that with another device’s flash-and-use experience, he felt this category was moving fast. These are the participants’ first-hand experiences and impressions at a point in time, not product reviews. The episode 005 chapter holds the full context; an English transcript chapter is not available.
